Melaleuca Complaint

On June 29, 2019, I requested that my Melaleuca membership be cancelled. On July 2, an order was placed without my consent. While I prevented them from charging my card for that specific order, I began being contacted (2-3 times) about my unpaid balance. Upon seeing that an order was placed without my permission, I immediately wrote to Melaleuca’s customer service e-mail and requested that the order be immediately canceled prior to shipment. In that same e-mail, I stated that I had requested a cancellation to my account a few days prior. I did not hear any response, until on July 8, I was notified that my order had shipped and I still had a balance on my account. Yet again, I asked them to cancel my membership and cancel the order, stating that I would not accept the order. On July 9, I was told that my membership was successfully cancelled effective that date and not the date I originally requested. I continued to write Melaleuca’s customer service, stating that I would not accept my order. I was told that I could return the items, but would only get store credit. I was also charged a $10 penalty for not paying my balance of $61.47 for the order I did not place. When I wrote them back, telling them that I would be sending the order back to them and refusing delivery, they told me that they “wouldn’t advise it” as I would be charged for that and there would be not refund for the order (even though UPS clearly has a policy that if the package is returned unopened it will not be charged to the customer). This fiasco has last two weeks. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau; however, I don’t see any sign it will be resolved. I have had to work with my bank to reverse the charge Melaleuca has made and was told to have a new card issued to ensure that I won’t be charged again. It has been such a stressful experience.

What would you like the company to do to fix the problem? (optional)
Ultimately, I would like them to stop contacting me, to stop billing me for the order I didn’t make, and to stop threatening further penalties for refusing the order they delivered.
